Bacolod: VP Sara to attend World Teacher’s Day rites at Panaad

Bacolod City – Vice President and Education Secretary Sara Duterte is arriving on September 8 to attend the World Teacher’s Day celebration at the Panaad Park and Stadium in Brgy. Mansilingan, Bacolod City.

The arrival of Duterte was among the topics discussed during the quarterly meeting of the Provincial School Board and Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson recently at the Provincial Capitol in Bacolod City, among other concerns, which include preparations for the opening of classes on August 29.

Ian Arnold Arnaiz, spokesperson of the Department of Education- Negros Occidental, said the event will be attended by about 3,400 teachers from the province.

Also discussed during the meeting was the utilization of Provincial School Board budget, 64 percent has yet to be utilized, and the assessment of the performance of athletes during the recent Palarong Pambansa, according to Lacson.

Lacson said being the 1st runner up in the Palarong Pambansa is already an achievement for Western Visayas, noting that Negros Occidental has significantly contributed to the number of medals it garnered, both in the elementary and secondary levels.
