BACOLOD CITY — Two alleged high-value individuals were arrested after police seized 100 grams of suspected shabu worth PHP 680,000 during a buy-bust operation in Purok Malinong, Barangay 39, here over-the-weekend.
Police identified the suspects only by the aliases “Sha,” 31, and “Wil,” 22, both residents of Barangay Banago.
According to the Police Regional Office-Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR), Sha and his alleged cohort reportedly distributed illegal drugs in Barangays 2, 3, 8, 10, 39, Banago, and Singcang-Airport.
The suspects allegedly used a “kaliwaan” scheme in which illegal drugs and payment were exchanged simultaneously, with transactions reportedly facilitated through an electronic wallet.
Both suspects are detained at Police Station 1.
Police Brig. Gen. Romano Cardiño, PRO-NIR director, vowed to continue taking decisive action against those who bring illegal drugs into communities and put residents at risk.
“We will not allow illegal drugs to take root in our communities,” he said.
Cardiño said protecting communities remains a priority as police intensify their campaign against illegal drugs and strengthen efforts to curb drug trafficking.
The suspects may face charges under Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (Glazyl M. Jopson via tdg photo by tdg)
