Ma. Teresa Quebrar-Manalili, Chief Tourism Operations Officer, said their major goal is to make Bacolod City a tourism hub by exceeding the targets assigned by the Department of Tourism (DOT) to the city for tourism arrivals and receipts starting this year and onwards.

She pointed out that in 2019, before the pandemic, Bacolod had 803,911 domestic and foreign arrivals. When the pandemic came in 2020, tourism arrivals dropped to -82 percent and slowly recovered in 2021 at 3.12 percent.

Manalili said that this year, the DOT assigned a target of 400,000 tourism arrivals to Bacolod.

As of January, the gathered report from accommodation establishments is 19,264 arrivals. They should at least hit 45,000 arrivals per month in order to achieve the target set by the DOT, she said.

Their other goals include making Bacolod the top visited MICE destination in Region 6 by 2024; for Bacolod to be accredited by DOT VI as a culinary tourism destination by 2023; to relive the #LoveBacolod Culture and Heritage; to clean, green and beautify the city; and to make Bacolod a Smart City – to be branded as the safest and digitized Tourism City in the region by 2024, Manalili said.

The vision of the local government under the leadership of Mayor Leonardia is to provide a livable, vibrant and resilient city where business and industry flourish in a climate of peace and fair competition; inclusive, innovative and sustainable, where government serves its people responsibly, she added.
