Bacolod City – The Bacolod Sangguniang Panlungsod is urging the Tourism Office, through the office of Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez to plan and hold activities in the observance of the National Historical Month this coming month of August.

Authored by Councilor Em Legaspi-Ang, chair of the SP Committee on History, Culture and Arts, the resolution said Proclamation No. 339 was passed on February 16, 2012, repealing Proclamation No. 1304 series of 1974 transferring the observance of History Month from September to August of each year.

The same proclamation provides that most of the major events relating to the country’s history are happening every month of August which concludes with the National Heroes’ Day every last Monday of the same month, it said.

The resolution said the National History Commission is leading the 2023 History Month celebration with the theme, “History, Consciousness, Development.”
