Bacolod City – The Sangguniang Panlungsod granted recently the request of the Bacolod Real Estate Development Corporation for a resolution of no objection (RONO), only for the replanning/re-engineering of BREDCO’s port operations.

Councilor Renecito Novero manifested his abstention for reasons of professional relations with BREDCO.

BREDCO had requested the SP for a RONO to reclaim an additional 25 hectares at the Bacolod Reclamation Area, for its expansion.

The management of ALMANA Property Development Corporation (APDC) had earlier expressed its opposition, stating that BREDCO should not be granted a RONO since it will violate the rights of APDC.

Its legal counsel, Silvero Sorbito lV, had said that under the law, it is APDC that has preferential right to develop or reclaim the area being disputed, being the owner of the adjacent lots which it bought in 2012 from Bacolod Coastal Ventures Corp. (BCVC) then represented by the late Simplicio Palanca.

Councilor Vladimir Gonzalez requested a technical survey from BREDCO so the SP will be apprised on its 25 hectares application.

The RONO granted by the SP to BREDCO is limited to the development of the reclamation area from the finger port towards the sea, and will not cover the ALMANA area.

Meanwhile, the management of APDC expressed its deep appreciation for the passage of a RONO by the Sangguniang Panlungsod of Bacolod City, that protected APDC’s proprietary rights, in relation to the granting of the RONO requested by BREDCO for additional reclamation.

APDC expressed its sincere gratitude to the honorable members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod and to Mayor Alfedo Abelardo Benitez for giving due process and upholding the rights of APDC over the foreshore areas of its properties along the coastline of the city. The company commends the Council for conducting fair and transparent proceedings in this matter.

“This positive resolution is a step close to APDC’s intention of constructing a mega infrastructure and development project in the area which will spur economic growth in the city pushing forward to its destination of becoming a Super City as envisioned by our beloved mayor,” it added.
