BACOLOD CITY — The Bacolod-Silay Airport Police in Silay City, Negros Occidental, has intensified patrols in the vicinity and surrounding areas following the recent launch of a bike patrol initiative.
Dubbed the “Padyak ng Pulisya sa Paliparan Project” (4Ps), the initiative promotes physical fitness, strengthens camaraderie among personnel, and enhances police visibility within the airport premises.
Police Maj. Deejay Domingo, chief of the Bacolod-Silay Airport Police, said the tasking includes mobile and foot patrols, reinforcing security through bike patrols in the area while promoting eco-friendly practices and physical fitness.
The initiative also enables the unit to reduce vehicle fuel consumption amid tensions in the Middle East.
The program is under the supervision of Police Col. Alex Dimaculangan, chief of the Aviation Security Unit-Negros Island Region.
The Bacolod-Silay Airport Police has 11 bicycles, while bike patrols are also being conducted in Negros Oriental, with two bicycles in Dumaguete City and two in Siquijor.
Bike patrols are conducted at random intervals to prevent the establishment of a predictable pattern.
During the launch, personnel also distributed rice to airport security guards as part of the station’s community outreach initiative, demonstrating the police’s commitment to public service and partnership with airport stakeholders. (Glazyl M. Jopson via tdg photo by tdg)
