Bacolod: P2.1M shabu seized, gov’t employee nabbed

Bacolod City – More than P2.1 million worth of suspected shabu were seized by the police in a series of buy bust operations during the weekend in Negros Occidental, leading to the arrest of five drug suspects, including a local government employee.

A joint operation of the local police, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency and other police intelligence units recently led to the recovery of about 250 grams of suspected shabu valued at P1.7 million, during a buy bust operation in Barangay Marina, Binalbagan.

The buy bust operation resulted in the arrest of alias Roming, 65, of the barangay.

Operatives of the City Drug Enforcement Unit seized about 60 grams of suspected shabu valued at P408,000, in another buy bust operation on Saturday at Purok Maya in Brgy. 16. Bacolod City.

Nabbed was alias Cedrick, 30, tagged by the police as a High Value Individual drug personality.

A local government employee was nabbed by the police on July 19 at Sitio Maninihon in Barangay Guinhalaran, Silay City, Negros Occidental.

The arrest of alias Dave, a 35-year-old casual employee of the Silay City government, yielded an estimated nine grams of suspected shabu with a market value of P61,200, and marked money of P3,000.

Two other buy bust operations in Cadiz City and Murcia led to the confiscation of about 3.5 grams of suspected shabu valued at P23,800, and the apprehension of alias Sandoy, and alias Aljhon, police reports said.

Charges for violation of RA 9165, known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drug Act of 2002, are now being readied for filing against the five drug suspects, who are now locked up in jail. (Gilbert Bayoran via tvds)
