As of June 27, Negros Occidental has 14 COVID-19 active cases, with an average of one or two cases a day, Fama said.

Those being subjected to swab testing are only those entering the airport or ports who have symptoms, and patients in hospitals who will undergo surgery or to give birth, she added.

Of the targeted Negrenses for vaccination, Fama reported that 64.47 percent are fully vaccinated, with 69.75 percent others having their first dose, while 59.04 percent of the 70 percent of senior citizens targeted have been inoculated.

Local government units that achieved more than 70 percent vaccination rate of senior citizens are Pulupandan, La Carlota City, Pontevedra, EB Magalona, Talisay City, Valladolid, Silay City, Sagay City, San Enrique, Cadiz City, Victorias City, Candoni and Ilog.

While those LGUs are qualified to be under Alert Level 1, Fama said the declaration will have to be made by the Inter Agency Task Force national level.

12 LGUs, ALERT LEVEL 1

Twelve local government units in Negros Occidental will be placed under COVID-19 Alert Level 1, starting July 1 to 15, announced by Malacañang, as per recommendation of the Inter Agency Task Force.

Joining Bacolod City in the list are cities of Talisay, La Carlota, Cadiz, Sagay, Victorias, Valladolid, EB Magalona, Pontevedra, Pulupandan, Candoni and San Enrique.

The 20 other LGUs in Negros Occidental remain under Alert Level 2.

Negros Oriental is also under Alert Level 2 for the same period without prejudice to their respective component cities and municipalities which may be under a different Alert Level classification. (Gilbert Bayoran via The Visayan Daily Star (TVDS), photo courtesy of TVDS)
