Bacolod City – The city extraction team has no more backlogs and all patients who tested positive for Covid-19 have been placed in isolation facilities in Bacolod, city executive assistant Ernie Pineda, who is in-charge of the team, said recently.

Pineda said that, in fact, most of the Covid patients who are in their line lists have been extracted from their homes ahead of schedule, unlike previously where they had backlogs because the patients refused to go with the extraction team.

He said a more open communication between the extraction team and the barangay representatives resulted in the zero backlog in the extraction of Covid patients in recent weeks.

But Pineda admitted that there are still patients who defy the extraction order, claiming that they have applied for hospital supervised home isolation despite the fact that their applications had been disapproved by the Emergency Operations Center.

The EOC has issued warnings against Covid-19 positive individuals, who refuse to be extracted from their homes, that they will be facing legal complaints for their refusal.

Under the rules, only the elderly, who are already weak and sickly, were given consideration to stay at home after an assessment from EOC deputy, Dr. Chris Sorongon, and City Health officer-in-charge, Dr. Edwin Miraflor.

Meanwhile, Pineda denied accusations that the composite team assigned in the three public markets of Bacolod are remiss in reprimanding those who do not wear face shields.

Several posts made rounds in social media recently claiming that many market goers were not issued citation tickets for not wearing face shields.

Pineda, who is also in charge of the public markets, said market goers are always reminded to wear their face shields, adding that they also ensure that they have their BaCTrac identification cards before they are allowed entry to the market proper.

He said, however, that they cannot deny the fact that once the inspectors are gone, most of the market goers remove their face shields.

A composite team of policemen under the City Legal Office and those from the police precincts that have jurisdiction over the markets are assigned to ensure that market goers abide by the minimum health protocols. (Adrian Nemes III via The Visayan Daily Star, photo courtesy of Sunstar)
