Bacolod City – The Sangguniang Panlungsod urged the National Historical Commission of the Philippines to investigate an alleged pre-war tunnel in Bacolod City.
The resolution authored by Councilor Jason Isidro Villarosa, chair of the SP Committee on Tourism, said that a brick wall, shaped like a tunnel, was discovered while Anchorville Construction was undertaking excavation works.
Said tunnel was discovered in Barangay 39, Bacolod City, and it has caught the attention of the public, it added.
The resolution said the National Historical Commission of the Philippines might take interest over the matter as such might be relevant to the purpose/s of the commission.
Meanwhile, Villarosa said the excavated area was ordered by the Department of Public Works covered, due to the influx of students and other curious onlookers.
They requested the NHC to investigate whether the matter discovered was a pre-war tunnel or oven for preparing muscovado. A skeleton, believed to be that of a horse, was also discovered by the excavating team, he added. (Chrysee Semillano vias The Visayan Daily Star (TVDS), photo courtesy of TVDS)
