Bacolod City – The Ayala Group of Companies is looking for areas in Negros Occidental for a planned 100MW solar power farm, Governor Eugenio Lacson revealed over-the-weekend.
The plan to put up a solar farm in Negros Occidental was discussed by business tycoon Fernando Zobel de Ayala, who recently led his top executives in a courtesy call with Gov. Lacson at the Provincial Capitol in Bacolod City.
Lacson said he told Zobel de Ayala to talk with Negrense land owners.
While real estate business is among the biggest investments of Ayala Group of Companies, Lacson said the Ayala group is also looking into the renewable energy business. They are a distributor of BYD electric vehicles, which is now putting up a showroom in Talisay City.
He added that Ayala is also looking for areas to establish recharging stations in the province.
With our thrust to solarize the rooftops of Capitol buildings, Lacson said “maybe, we can also slowly introduce E vehicles in our Capitol CABB program,” noting that it is cheaper to operate, compared to fossil fuels.
He also bared his plans for the provincial government to tap certain programs of Ayala, such as the Early Child Care Service and training for teachers, using the latest technology. (Gilbert Bayoran via The Visayan Daily Star)
