Almost A Thousand Arrested For Quarantine Violations Based On The Data

Davao City:    The Police Regional Office 11 has arrested a total of 993 persons across Davao Region from March 17 to April 13 for violating the guidelines of the community quarantine amid the COVID-19.

Based on Police Regional Office 11 data provided to the Media, 515 of the arrested individuals were from Davao City, 214 from Davao del Sur, 190 from Davao del Norte, 32 from Davao Oriental, and 42 from Davao de Oro.

The violations include breaking the curfew and disobedience.

Davao Occidental has recorded zero community quarantine violators as the province has implemented a 24-hour curfew.

The region-wide community quarantine guidelines began on March 16 and was further elevated to enhanced community quarantine on April 4 to contain the spread of the novel coronavirus.

During the ECQ period, people are prohibited from going out from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m., and activities are limited to accessing basic necessities like buying food or medicines and accessing essential health services.

The data also showed that 1,774 persons have been warned for violating curfew hours, while 48 persons were fined.

According to the data, a total of 2,815 individuals violated guidelines of the community quarantine in 28 days of the community quarantine implementation in the region.

Police Regional Office 11 spokesperson Major Eudisan Gultiano said 336 cases have been filed against those who had been arrested.

Gultiano said Police Regional Office 11 also arrested 18 persons for hoarding, profiteering, and manipulation of prices of various medical supplies and disinfectants.

She said 10 public utility vehicle drivers were arrested for violating the ECQ.

Gultiano said they have been strictly implementing the guidelines of the community quarantine set by the Regional Task Force COVID-19 since day one.

“If we try to compare the data on apprehension to the other provinces, Davao Region still has the lowest numbers of arrested persons,” she told.

She said the people in Region 11 are generally well disciplined and cooperative.
