Be informed that at around 4:00 PM of January 5, 2021, Godod Municipal Police Station (MPS) received a phone call from Junie Daham-LGU Godod employee and reported that an alleged suicide incident was transpired at Brgy. Sarawagan, Godod, Zamboanga del Norte.
Acting on the report, PNP personnel of Godod MPS led by PSSg. Roldan S. Barroga proceeded to the abovementioned place to conduct further investigation regarding the incident. Upon arrival thereat, the nylon cord tied around the neck of the victim was already cut and the cadaver was already removed from his original position.
Initial investigation conducted disclosed that at about 9:00 AM of same date, the wife of the victim identified as Carmelita Copino Manera went to their rice field, upon returning home at about 11:12 AM of same date she found her husband (Elpedio Calderon Manera) lifeless having nylon cord around his neck and tied in a wood attached to the wall of their house just above the victim’s bed.
The wife further added that the victim often complain of extreme pain in his lower abdomen due to prostate cancer since 2019.
At around 6:40 PM of same date, the victim was declared dead by Dr. Temmie Paul B. Villarino, the attending physician. The doctor further added that the cause of death is asphyxia secondary to hanging.
No sign of foul play noted on the incident.
The cadaver was turned over to the immediate family of the victim for proper disposition.(PLtCol. Charisse B. Yabo, Provincial Community Affairs and Development Unit Chief)
