The Department of Health Zamboanga Peninsula confirms one death of a Person Under Investigation (PUI). The case was of a 57 year old female, married, from Zamboanga City and is a known diabetic with history of travel to United Kingdom in January 2020.
The case was admitted on March 18, 2020 at a private hospital in Zamboanga City with an initial working diagnosis of Urinary Tract Infection, to consider Person Under Investigation (PUI) for COVID-19 and subsequently expired on March 21, 2020.
Specimen samples for confirmatory testing for COVID-19 was collected on March 20, 2020 and was sent to the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM) awaiting results.
The DOH is closely coordinating with the private hospital and with the City Health Office of Zamboanga with regards to the case.
