Government troops apprehended a Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) member who yielded loose firearm and explosives during the implementation of search warrant in Brgy. Binocaran, Malimono, Surigao del Norte today, February 28.
PNP Caraga Director POLICE BRIGADIER GENERAL ROMEO M. CARAMAT, JR. said that the combined elements of Malimono Municipal Police Station (MPS), 1st Surigao del Norte Provincial Mobile Force Company and Intel operatives from 29th Infantry Battalion, Philippine Army swooped down in the residence of Arlindo B. Jubasan Sr., 29 years old around 5:55 AM.

Confiscated from his possession were: one caliber .38 revolver loaded with six live ammunition; two live ammunition of caliber .38; one kilogram of explosive powder; two rifle grenades with container; five meters yellow detonating cord; one long plastic magazine loaded with two 5.56 live ammunition; and one short aluminum magazine loaded with 20 rounds of 5.56 live ammunition.

The operation stemmed from search warrant number 2021-13 issued by the 3rd Municipal Circuit Trial Court (MCTC), Placer-Bacuag, Surigao del Norte dated February 26, 2021 for violation of R.A. No. 10591 (Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition) and R.A. No. 9516 ( Illegal Possession of Explosives and other Incendiary Device).

Jubasan was identified as a member of the CTG under Sandatahang Yunit Pampropaganda 16B, Guerilla Front 16, Sub-Regional Committee 16, Northeastern Mindanao Regional Committee (NEMRC).
“The suspect was placed under surveillance for months upon receipt of reports that he was hiding loose firearm and explosives in his house. As of now, he was placed under the custody of Malimono MPS,” RD CARAMAT JR added.
PNP Chief POLICE GENERAL DEBOLD M SINAS had ordered earlier the police regional offices nationwide to intensify operations against loose firearms and to capture those CTG with standing warrant of arrest.(PMAJ. DOROTHY M. TUMULAK, RPIO 13)
