90 Volunteers Attend Briefing For The Creation Of An AFP Medical Reserve Pool In Davao City

Ninety volunteers composed of doctors, nurses, dentists, medical technologists and other graduates in the medical field attended the briefing conducted by the Joint Reserve Task Force (JRTF) of Metro Davao for the creation of a Medical Reserve Pool in the city.

All wearing masks, 65 attendees were scattered in separate tents around Magsaysay Park where the Headquarters of the 2202nd Ready Reserve Infantry Brigade (2202 RRIBde), Philippine Army is located. Twenty-five volunteers participated on-line.

According to Colonel Isidro T. Ungab (GSC) PA (RES), Brigade Commander of the 2202nd RRIBde, the creation of the AFP Medical Reserve Pool is a brainchild of Mayor Sara Z. Duterte by enlisting medical practitioners and graduates in the medical field as AFP reservists to help the government fight the spread of Covid-19.

Mayor Sara who is a Colonel in the Reserve Force of the Philippine Army joined the meeting via Zoom.

The administrators of the different Reserve Commands of the Armed Forces of the Philippines led by Colonel Ruben B Matillano INF (GSC) PA were the resource speakers during the briefing. With him were Colonel Rodolfo A Gesim INF (GSC) PA of the AFPRESCOM and LTC Armand S Enriquez PAF GSC of the Philippine Air Force.

DOH XI Regional Director Annabelle P. Yumang M.D. , City Health Officer Josephine J. Villafuerte M.D. and City Councilor Mary Joselle D. Villafuerte M.D. also attended the meeting and presented possible areas of collaboration once the AFP Medical Reserve Pool shall have been created. (Cmo Davao Army Reservists)
