9.1 Million Worth Of Smuggled Cigarettes Apprehended, 6 Persons Nabbed

Zamboanga City – Joint operations of Seaborne patrol of the PNP and Bureau of Customs confiscates 9.1 Million pesos worth of alleged smuggled cigarettes off the coastal area in the city Sunday morning.

Police Colonel Rexmel G Reyes, City Director claimed around 9:00 AM of May 23, 2021 joint elements of the 2nd City Mobile Force “Seaborne” Company together with the personnel of Bureau of Customs, Intelligence and Investigation Service (CIIS), Enforcement and Security Service (ESS) successfully intercepted one MV “Airborne Nurfalin” blue grey motorized wooden watercraft “Jungkong” loaded with a total of Two Hundred Sixty (260) assorted boxes/cases of smuggled cigarettes.

Authorities claimed the said items has an estimated market value of ₱ 9,100,000.00.

Reyes said the said “Junkong” was seen during the conduct of seaborne patrols at the high seas of Barangay Recodo this city.

All on board personnel were brought for questioning by the police. Those brought in for questioning were,  the skipper/suspects identified as Tatung Indanan, 31 years old, Bin J Sali, 31 years old, Ibno Papung, 40 years old, Najib Hadjirul, 18 years old, Hadilon Amsani, 50 years old, and Judimar Pulalon, 28 years old, all native of Jolo, Sulu.  All failed to present any supporting documents relative to the shipment.

Subjects along with the motorized “Jungkong” and confiscated smuggled cigarettes were turned-over to the Bureau of Customs for proper disposition.

Police Colonel Reyes commends the operating units for a job well done and stresses that ZCPO remains constant in protecting not just the safety of our people but also the pristine course of law.
