Sixty three Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDL) were now fully vaccinated with Coronavirus Disease 2019 vaccine after the Zamboanga City Jail (ZCJ) together with the City Health Office (CHO) continued the vaccination inside the jail facility Tuesday.
SJO1 Rey Laurence Comprendio, ZCJ Information Officer said, PDL’s Senior Citizen to include those with comorbidities were given the priority for the vaccine.
In the jail facility, 63 PDLs got their second dose, 142 for the first dose, and 11 jail personnels for their first dose.
These group received Sinovac. For the fully vaccinated, they received their first dose May 31 and June 1.
Comprendio said, hopefully, the government will continue its vaccination program and also give attention to these PDLs.
Soon, when vaccines are sufficient, regular PDLs will also be vaccinated but for now, the priority are the senior citizens and PDLs with comorbidities.
In ZCJ, male dormitory, there are 2,282 PDLs.
As of now, the jail facility is Covid free they continue to implement the lockdown of the jail facility, following the minimum health standards, disinfection of deliveries, information campaign on Covid 19 and vaccination, and the commitment of new PDLs are being done by batches.
The vaccination of PDLs is a big help to make sure that these PDLs will be protected.
Aside from these, this will also help the undecided PDLs yo have themselves vaccinated especially if they see other PDLs were already vaccinated. (R.G. Antonet A. Go)
