Negros Occidental Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz said the five-day workweek at the provincial capitol will resume today Nov 9, 2020

Earlier, Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson said he was mulling to resume the 5-day workweek at the provincial capitol following the noted decrease in coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases here.

The provincial capitol is situated in the city.

Currently, employees of the provincial government are on a 4-day workweek from Monday to Thursday.

The Negros Occidental provincial government adopted the four-day workweek arrangement since August as a measure to curb the spread of COVID-19.

Lacson attended the COVID-19 Situationer in the region, in the province and the city of Bacolod during the visit of the Coordinated Operations to Defeat Epidemic (CODE) Team headed by Deputy Chief Implementer and Testing Czar Secretary Vince Dizon at the L’Fisher Hotel last week.

Based on Bacolod City Health Office data presented to Dizon, COVID-19 cases in Bacolod decreased from an average of 50 cases daily in September to a daily average of 25 in the last two weeks of October.

As of this writing Bacolod City has 272 active cases from more than a thousand last month. (Dolly Yasa via The Daily Guardian (TDG), photo courtesy by TDG)
