Zamboanga City — Authorities have arrested an alleged big-time drug personality and four others and seized ₱ 707,000 worth of illegal drugs in separate anti-drug operations in this city and in nearby Zamboanga Sibugay province, an official said Thursday.
Brig. Gen. Jesus Cambay Jr., Police Regional Office-IX (PRO-IX) director, identified the alleged big-time drug personality as Ahamad Halim, 35, who was arrested in a buy-bust operation around 6:40 PM Wednesday in Barangay Calarian here.
Cambay said Halim yielded some 50 grams of suspected shabu worth ₱ 700,000 and ₱ 300,000 boodle money topped with two ₱ 100 bills.
PRO-IX identified the other arrested suspects as Omar Abison, 33; Al-Kastar Khalid, 30; Juni Ellam, 36; and, Haber Karil, 35.
Abison was arrested in possession of some ₱ 2,300 worth of suspected shabu and ₱ 300 marked money in a buy-bust operation around 5:30 PM Wednesday in Purok Azucena, Barangay Kitabog, Titay, Zamboanga Sibugay, police said.
Khalid, Ellam, and Karil, meanwhile, yielded some ₱ 4,700 worth of suspected shabu and ₱ 200 marked money when arrested in a buy-bust operation around 7:58 PM Wednesday in Barangay Kasanyangan here, police said.
Cambay said the suspects now face charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (Teofilo Garcia, Jr. /PNA)
