A total of 49 farmers have qualified as beneficiaries of the government’s land-transfer program under the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (CARP), the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) office in the town of Maayon, Capiz, announced on Tuesday.
The DAR had recently administered an oath for the 49 potential beneficiaries who will become land recipients of some 65 hectares of land in the town of Maayon.
In a news statement, Municipal Agrarian Reform Program Officer Rosalina Dadivas said the oath-taking activity aims to affirm the application of the identified beneficiaries to ensure compliance with all agrarian laws, including the signing of Application to Purchase and Farmer’s Undertaking (APFU).
Republic Act 6657 states that in order to facilitate the land acquisition and distribution (LAD) process, it is important that qualified Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries (ARB) must attend the oath-taking and sign the undertaking, Dadivas said.
The landholdings to be distributed were formerly owned by Jose Seville covered by title no. T-8659 lot no. 2972-C located in Barangay Tuburan, Maayon, with a total area of 65.0571 hectares.
The potential agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs) were sworn in before Municipal Trial Court Judge Filpia Del Castillo at the Municipal Trial Court.
Del Castillo stressed the contents of the APFU to ensure that the beneficiaries have a clear and unified understanding of all the conditions stated, such as their obligation on the payment of amortization to the Land Bank of the Philippines (LBP) and the payment of real property taxes.
“Your obligations will be the continuous remarks of your willingness and commitment to work on the land and make it productive. Failure to attend the said conditions will be a ground for your disqualifications,” Del Castillo said.
