417 Tourism Workers To Receive Aid From DOT And DOLE

More than 417 tourism workers in Western Mindanao are expected to receive their financial aid coming from the joint effort of Department of Tourism (DOT) and the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) to help these displaced workers.

Tourism Assistant Secretary, Myra Paz Abubakar told RPN Zamboanga, these workers came from DOT accredited Primary and Secondary tourism enterprises.

Beneficiaries are those workers from the tourism establishments, travel and tours, tourists transport operators, tour guides, and other tourism frontline service.

This is under the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (Covid-19) Adjustment Measure Program (CAMP) under the Bayanihan 2.

“For the employers, please find ways to help your employees,” Abubakar said.

We are happy that the government saw the importance of helping the tourism industry especially those displaced workers.

She said, those qualified can still apply the requirements are: payroll or proof of payment, employment contract, business permit, DOT accreditation certificate, and proof of unemployment.

These will be submitted to  dot9camp@gmail.com. The DOLE will check and give the notice of approval or disapproval.

Payment to qualified beneficiaries will be done by money transfers. (R.G. Antonet A. Go)
