Three members of the 29th Infantry Battalion and 1 Civilian Armed Forces Geographical Unit Active Auxiliary were killed in an attack by believed to be members of Sandatahang Yunit Pampropaganda 16A and Sentro de Grabidad 16 of the CPP NPA NDF Terrorist group early morning of September 29, 2021 at Brgy. Maraiging, Jabonga, Agusan del Norte.
According to the police investigation, around 12:30AM the 29IB squad composed 7 enlisted personnel and a3 CAAs led by Sgt. Galarita while conducting a Critical Infrastructure, Investment Protection and Security Operation or CIIPSO to the ongoing farm to market road by Charles Construction & Company in Brgy Maraiging, Jabonga, Agusan del Norte, they were attacked by more or less 25 armed NPAs believed to be combined elements of SYP16A & SDG16 of GF16, NEMRC led by Francisco Nicolas @CHONG.
The firefight lasted for about 15 minutes after which, the CNTs withdrew towards northeast direction. Two other enlisted personnel and 1 civilian were wounded. They lost 4 high-powered firearms and 1 handheld radio.
However, there were 3 members of the enemy side were captured and 1 M16 armalite rifle was recovered.
At 1:00 dawn, the commanding officer of the 29th Infantry Battalion together with S3 jumped from the headquarters onboard the KM450 with mounted 30 caliber machine gun and proceeded to the attacked site. Another army platoon jumped-off around 1:20dawn from Cuyago Patrol Base to provide reinforcement to the engaged troops.
