Bacolod City – The Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office reported the arrest of 3,068 curfew violators in the towns and cities of the province, since curfew was enforced from April 12 to May 31 this year, in compliance with the executive order issued by Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson.

Of the arrested violators, 79 were fined and charged, 453 others rendered community service, while 2,555 were warned and advised to go home, the NOCPPO report shows.

Lacson earlier said that the imposition of curfew hours, initially from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m., contributed to the lowering of Covid-19 active cases in the province.

Under the EO he issued Monday that extended the Modified General Community Quarantine status of Negros Occidental until June 30, he also reduced the curfew hours, or from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m.

A total of 6,186 have been also apprehended for violation of minimum health protocols, like the failure to wear, or improper use of face masks and shields, mass gatherings, and violation of the rule on physical distancing. The Escalante City Police Station recorded the most number of arrested violators with 893, the NOCPPO also said.
