The Land Transportation Office (LTO) regional office 9 has revealed that 26 emission testing centers in region 9 will be closed following the operation of private Private Emission and Testing Center (PETC) this year.
“Ito yung papalit sa mga private emission and testing centers,” Atty. Aminola Abaton, LTO 9 regional director told RPN DXXX Zamboanga.
There will be eight emissions centers that will be affected for Zamboanga City while 26 for region 9.
According to Abaton, Private emission and testing centers can only test emission requirements.
PETC has 72 kinds of computerized test for all vehicles to assure vehicles running the streets are road worthy.
All vehicles for renewal will have to pass the PETC before their registration can be renewed by the LTO.
The regional director said, there will be five PETC for region 9 one each for Dipolog, Pagadian, and Ipil and two for Zamboanga City located at barangays Boalan and Tetuan. These may be operational by April.
For Zamboanga, he said there are still three slots open so that there will be no shortage of PETC.
These PETC’s are huge and has the complete equipments and accredited by the LTO. (R.G. A A. Go)
