2 Communist NPA Terrorists Surrender; Turned-Over Firearms, Anti-Personnel Mine

Camp Col. Rafael C. Rodriguez, Butuan City – POLICE BRIGADIER GENERAL ROMEO M. CARAMAT, JR., PNP Caraga Director, reported the surrender of two Communist New People’s Army Terrorists (CNTs) last Tuesday, August 10, following the series of negotiations conducted by Agusan del Sur police.

The surrenderers were identified as alias Mike, member of Sandatahang Yunit Pampropaganda, Squad 2 and alias Serin, Platoon Leader of Platoon 1 (Dove), Squad 1, both of Weakened Guerilla Front 88, North Central Mindanao Regional Committee and residents of San Luis, Agusan del Sur.

They surrendered a .357 revolver with four ammunition, a 12-gauge shotgun with two ammunition, and an anti-personnel landmine.

During custodial debriefing, the surrenderers disclosed that they were part of the combatant members of the Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) operating in the hinterlands of Agusan del Sur.

“We welcome this additional number in the already massive number of NPA surrenderers in Caraga. This increasing number of CNTs who withdrew support to the CTG will pave a way to end local communist armed conflict and attainment of the ultimate objective of Executive Order Number 70 which is the long and lasting peace in our country,” RD CARAMAT, JR said.

RD CARAMAT, JR, assured the surrenderers of police assistance in their enrollment to the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program of the government.
