Camp Col. Rafael C. Rodriguez, Butuan City — As government intensified the implementation of Executive Order No. 70, institutionalizing the whole of the nation approach in attaining inclusive and sustainable peace, two active rebels surrendered to Regional Mobile Force Battalion (RMFB)13 around 3:35 PM, October 19.
Police Regional Office (PRO) 13 director BRIGADIER GENERAL ROMEO M. CARAMAT, JR. identified the surrenderees as alias “TUBAN”, 47 years old, resident of Brgy Sangay, Buenavista, Agusan del Norte and alias “JUN”, 35 years old, resident of Brgy. Tungao, Butuan City.
They are active members of NPA in the barrios under Guerilla Front Committee 4A who saw the futility and wrongness of supporting the armed struggle being championed by the NPA.
They were given orientation and lectures on Executive Order No. 70 and the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP) facilitated by RMFB13 for them to avail the E-CLIP and other programs of the government.
“This new batch of surrenderees is a clear sign that the people are now well-informed of NPA trickery which resulted in their decision to forsake their support from the rebels and help the government attain lasting peace” Regional Director CARAMAT, JR. said.
