11 Zamboangueñon Teachers Positive For COVID-19

Eleven teachers were hit by Coronavirus Disease 2019 (Covid-19) this was revealed by the Department of Education (DepEd) Zamboanga City Schools Division in a press conference Tuesday October 6, 2020.

Rosalio B. Conturno, Jr., DepEd Division of Zamboanga, Chief Education Supervisor for School Governance and Operations Division said, these 11 includes: teachers and non teaching personnel.

Ten of these patients have already recovered with one active case. The ten are already back to work.

He clarified, these patients did not get the virus while distributing the learning modules to the students. They were infected around August.

The patients according to Conturno were referred to the City Health Office and they received continuous salary.

DepEd Division of Zamboanga City is composed of Labuan district, Ayala, Sta Maria, Baliwasan, Central, Vitali, Curuan, Manicahan, Mercedes, Putik, Talon Talon, and Tetuan. The city have 172 public elementary schools and 41 public high schools with some 8,000 teachers.

Zamboanga have 478 active Covid -19 cases, 1,290 recoveries, 92 deaths, and 1,860 cases. (R.G. Antonet A. Go)
