More than 1,300 women from various organizations gathered on March 8, 2025, as the City Government of Iriga hosted the Womenโ€™s Summit in celebration of Womenโ€™s Month and coinciding with International Womenโ€™s Day at Iriga City Sports Center.

As part of the summit, 24 womenโ€™s organizations received P30,000 each in livelihood cash assistance from the city government to support their economic activities.

Adding to the celebration, Firefly Alley and the IP Childrenโ€™s Choir serenaded the participants, while Mayor Oliva distributed roses and heart-shaped lollipops as a token of appreciation.

A highlight of the event was Mayor Rex C. Olivaโ€™s delivery of the โ€œEstado ni Juana: State of Womenโ€™s Report,โ€ where he presented the current status of women in Iriga and the city’s ongoing efforts to promote gender equality. (Posted as a separate story.)

A special highlight of the summit was the message from Senator Abby Binay and Congressman Migz Villafuerte, who graced the event as guest speakers. Senator Binay emphasized the importance of women’s empowerment, urging all women to take an active role in shaping a better future for themselves and their communities.

Several government offices provided on-the-spot services during the event, ensuring that women had access to essential resources and support programs:
Public Employment Services Office (PESO) โ€“ Job opportunities and employment assistance.
Persons with Disability Affairs Office (PDAO) โ€“ Advocacy for the inclusion and welfare of women with disabilities.
City Legal Office, RBA and IBP-Cam Sur โ€“ Free legal consultations and assistance.
City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) โ€“ Social services and support programs.
City Agriculture Office โ€“ Livelihood programs for women farmers.
City Local Civil Registrar โ€“ Assistance with civil registry concerns.
City Health Office โ€“ Free health check-ups and consultations.
City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office โ€“ Disaster preparedness education.

The Womenโ€™s Summit served as a platform for empowerment, support, and recognition of women’s contributions to the cityโ€™s development, reinforcing Irigaโ€™s commitment to advancing gender equality and inclusive growth.
