ZCMC Has New Chief Of Hospital

    The government runned Zamboanga City Medical Center (ZCMC) now has a new Chief of Hospital after a virtual oathtaking was conducted Wednesday morning at ZCMC.

    The new Chief of Hospital is Dr. Afdal Kunting, a resident of Zamboanga who was the former Public Affairs and Customer Care Unit (PACCU) Head of the ZCMC. He specializes in Internal Medicine.

    Secretary of Health Dr. Francisco Duque III administered the oathtaking witnessed by his colleagues.

    “We will work to improve health services for our people.” Kunting said.

    Before Kunting was appointed as ZCMC Chief of Hospital, DOH 9 regional director Dr. Emilia P. Monicimpo sat as Officer in Charge after Dr. Nida Tan retired.

    Dr. Afdal Kunting graduated residency training, Internal Medicine in ZCMC last 2013. He was also awarded last September 9, 2020 as the Philippine Medical Association Most Outstanding Physician of Zamboanga City Medical Society.

    A graduate of Ateneo de Zamboanga University School of Medicine in 1999, and has taught in the School since then. He was also former Associate Dean for Community Affairs.

    ZCMC is one of the Department of Health (DOH) regional office 9 retained hospitals. Other hospitals includes: Mindanao Central Sanitarium; Labuan Hospital; Basilan General Hospital; Dr. Jose Rizal Memorial Hospital; Margosatubig Regional Hospital; and Sulu Sanitarium.
