Zamboanga City Jail Bags Best Warden In Region IX

The Zamboanga City Reformatory Center (ZCRC) has bagged the best warden for the year 2020 given by the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) Regional Office IX despite the several challenges ZCRC faced this year.

The awarding was done virtually during the BJMP IX Regional Anniversary August 28 at Pagadian City with the theme: “BJMP @29: Mahusay na Pamamahala mg Piitan, Matatag na Kabalikat sa Pampublikong Kaligtasan.”

The chief of the BJMP, Jail Director Allan S. Iral led the virtual celebration and awarding with J/Sr. Supt. Johnson M. Calub, BJMP IX Regional Director.

ZCRC Warden, J/ Supt. Inspector Nathaniel L. Aljas bagged the award as best city jail warden.

The regional office saw the several accomplishments and programs of Aljas to include: zero escape, the drug testing being done, good relationship with the Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDL), and the conduct of several outreach programs.

Recall, both personnel and PDL’s were infected by the Coronavirus Disease 2019 last May.

Aljas thanked everyone who made this possible the personnel to include the PDLs for their support and cooperation.

ZCJ is one of the 20 jails under BJMP Region IX which other includes: Basilan City Jail, Zamboanga City Jail, Zamboanga City Jail Female Dormitory, Ipil District Jail, Ipil Female Dormitory, Kabasalan Municipal Jail, Pagadian City Jail, Pagadian Female Dormitory, Molave Municipal Jail, Ramon Magsaysay Municipal Jail, Mahayag Municipal Jail, Duminag Municipal Jail, Tambulig Municipal Jail, Dipolog City Jail, Dipolog Female Dormitory, Dapitan City Jail, Sindangan District Jail, Salug District Jail, Liloy Municipal Jail, and Siocon Municipal Jail.

In ZCRC alone, there are 3,040 male PDL’s. (R.G. Antonet A. Go)
