Undeterred by the scorching sun, Zamboanga City’s para-athletes are intensifying their training at the Joaquin Enrequiz Memorial Complex (JEMSC) in Baliwasan in preparation for the 8th National Para Games slated in Manila November 11-14.
The athletes are participating in 3 events – track and field, badminton, and swimming which will be held in 2 venues – Rizal Memorial Sports Complex and PhilSports Complex in Manila.
Leading the training is Joel Mapiso of the City Sports Division, alongside Irene “Ayhing” P. Villanueva and Henry Salac, the Zamboanga City Para Games Coordinator.
Mapiso has challenged the athletes to strive for gold medals that will serve as a gift to the Local Government Unit (LGU).
The dedication and determination of the athletes, coupled with the support of their coaches and the City Sports Division, promise a strong showing for Zamboanga City at the upcoming Para Games, according to Salac. (PDAU/Henry Salac)
