Zamboanga City Mayor Maria Isabelle Climaco-Salazar met with concerned agencies to tackle intensification of security measures in preventing the illegal and unauthorized entry of passengers and vessels at ports and harbors within the Zamboanga City area of responsibility.
Mayor Climaco-Salazar has urged the Maritime Group under the Regional Maritime Unit-9 to closely collaborate with the Western Mindanao Command, the Philippine Navy, Philippine Coast Guard and other agencies in enforcing security measures in preventing the illegal entry of passengers and vessels at ports and harbors within the Zamboanga City area.
Enforced by the Maritime Group under the Regional Maritime Unit 9 under PCOL Joseph Javier, the campaign is focused on those coming from Sabah, Malaysia and adjacent islands outside ZC due to the threat of the new COVID-19 strain and in line with the implementation of minimum public health standards.
Mayor Climaco-Salazar was the guest of honor during the meeting held at the Casa Teodora Resort in Sta. Maria, Saturday, January 29.
Climaco-Salazar issued the call as she graced the meeting of concerned agencies relative to the intensification of security measures in preventing the illegal and unauthorized entry of passengers and vessels at ports and harbors within the Zamboanga City area of responsibility, specifically those from Sabah, Malaysia and other neighboring areas.
Regional Maritime Unit 9 Chief P/Col. Joseph Javier said the campaign is focused on those coming from Sabah, Malaysia and adjacent islands outside ZC due to the threat of the new COVID-19 strain and in line with the implementation of minimum public health standards. Health authorities in Sabah have detected a new COVID-19 strain, different from the one that originated in the United Kingdom, thus the restrictions. (LGU POIO)
