Barring all hitches, President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Romualdez Marcos Jr. is expected to visit Zamboanga City next month to break ground for the socialized housing project under his administration’s flagship “Pambansang Pabahay Para Sa Pilipino” (4PH) Program of the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) in Barangay Boalan.

It will be PBBM’s first visit to this part of the country since his election to the presidency in 2022.

This was announced during the 4PH Inter-Agency meeting Wednesday, March 29, at Centro Latino of Paseo del Mar as the project developer Metro Stonerich Corp. in coordination with DHSUD, the city government’s Housing and Land Management Division headed by Rodrigo Pagotaisidron and other agencies/offices concerned were finalizing the preparations for the presidential groundbreaking event tentatively scheduled for April 15.

This, as Metro Stonerich Corp. has reported that the site development of the self-contained community housing project in Boalan, not Pasobolong as earlier reported, was almost completed, including the scale models of the residential units, in preparation for the presidential visit.

The housing project is a joint collaboration of the city government of Zamboanga under the leadership of Mayor John Dalipe and DHSUD with Metro Stonerich Corp. as the private developer, and Pag-Ibig Fund as the financing agency.

Pagotaisidro said his office has already started accepting applicants for the housing project, and as of this date around 700 target beneficiaries have already applied. Orientation will be conducted anytime soon.

Billed as “El Vinta Residencia,” the socialized housing project will have 6,400 residential units in eight 12-storey buildings and eight 14-storey buildings on a 14.45-hectare property. Each residential unit measures 27 sq. meters with two bedrooms, living, dining and comfort rooms, and each residential building will have three elevators.

Like other high-rise residential units in the metropolis, the self-contained community housing in Boalan will have other amenities for the tenants’ convenience, such as convenience store, laundromat, salon and barber shops, basketball court, parking lot, etc.

It is open to all government employees and/or anybody who have the capacity to pay at least P3,800 a month through the Pag-Ibig Fund.

To recall, Mayor Dalipe and DHSUD signed last month a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for the implementation of the agency’s (4PH) Program.

The DHSUD has agreed to facilitate, either directly or through its Key Shelter Agencies (KSAs), the implementation of the housing projects in collaboration with the local government units and other relevant agencies. It shall also assist the LGU in the preparation of the necessary documents and in securing the required permits and licenses issued by national government agencies. It likewise warrants to expedite development of the housing projects in the property.

On the other hand, the city government of Zamboanga through the mayor agreed to be responsible for identifying the land that is suitable and safe for enrolment to the 4PH Program, and shall comply with the technical, financial and documentary requirements as may be required under the Program, and shall facilitate the processing of all required permits and licenses to be issued by the local authorities for its full implementation.
