Zamboanga: P95.4M multi-purpose sports facility soon to rise at grandstand

Mayor John Dalipe, District 1 Cong. Khymer Olaso, former Councilor Bong Atilano and DPWH District Engineers spearheaded the groundbreaking ceremony for the ₱ 95.4M Multi-purpose Sports facility at the Joaquin Enriquez Memorial Sports Complex or Grandstand in Baliwasan, Saturday morning.

Dalipe expressed elation that the project will further help boost sports in Zamboanga City, home of world class athletes.

Funded by the national government through the Department of Public Works and Highways, the project was requested by Atilano when he was still a councilor last year.

City Sports Director Dr. Cecil Atilano said the project will be undertaken in 3 phases with a total cost of P300M.

The facility will cater combative sports like boxing, karatedo, taekwondo, muaythai, pencaksilat , wushu and 2 courts for badminton, according to Atilano.
