Zamboanga: P5.35M evacuation center for Sta. Maria Cluster turned over

With firm resolve to strengthen the city’s disaster preparedness capacities, Mayor John Dalipe formally turns over the newly constructed P 5.35M evacuation center for the Sta. Maria cluster which will serve the barangays of Cabatangan, Tumaga, Dulian-Upper Pasonanca, Pasonanca, San Roque, and Sta. Maria.

“Hinde aqui ta para el de aton esfuerzo para prepara con el ciudad para na maga venadero amenazos que hay sucede. El administracion Dalipe ta asegura con ustedes cay kita bien preparao y todo enbuenamente plañiao,” Mayor John said during the turnover ceremonies Wednesday, June 7, as he reassured the public of his administration’s commitment to strengthen the city’s DRRM measures and facilities to safeguard residents from the impact of climate change.

Located in barangay Pasonanca, the Sta. Maria cluster evacuation center is the third out of the planned 12 cluster evacuation centers set to be established by the local government.

CRRMO Operations officer Clint Senosa, representing CDRRMO chief Dr. Elmier Apolinario, said the Tetuan cluster evacuation center is currently in the pipeline, with the Talon-talon and Baliwasan clusters soon to follow.

On behalf of the clustered barangays, Pasonanca chairperson Efigenio Julian, Jr., expressed his gratitude to Mayor John for his unwavering support and determination to empower the barangays.

The turnover ceremonies were graced City Engineer Christopher Navarro, Cabatangan Parish Priest Father Mateo Kahay, barangay officials under the Sta. Maria cluster, and the project contractor.
