Mayor Khymer Olaso on Thursday, April 9 visited Zamboangueňo student-athletes participating in the 2026 Zamboanga Peninsula Regional Athletic Association (ZPRAA) Meet in Isabela City, Basilan, expressing pride and full support to the delegation.
The mayor’s visit, which took place after the 84th Araw ng Kagitingan program boosted the moral of the delegates of the Zamboanga City Division Athletic Association (ZCDAA) which is dominating in the medal standings as of Thursday, the third day of the competition.
A short program was held at Claret College of Isabela Inc., where the delegation is billeted, to welcome the mayor. During his visit, Mayor Olaso checked on the athletes’ condition, including their food, accommodation, and overall welfare.
Mayor Olaso extended his congratulations to the delegation and provided additional financial support from his personal funds for both athletes and coaches.
He also visited various competition venues, including the Mujiv S. Hataman Gym for gymnastics, Barangay Tabiawan Oval for baseball, and other events at the Isabela City Grandstand, Isabela City Gymnasium, and Plaza. He was joined by Basilan Governor Mujiv S. Hataman, Lamitan City Vice Mayor Hegem C. Furigay, and other local officials.
The ZCDAA delegation, is composed of almost a thousand delegates, 584 of which are athletes.
Joining the mayor during the visit to Isabela were Councilors Kim Villaflores, Hannah Nuño, and Jihan Edding; Assistant City Administrator Christian Olasiman; Executive Assistant II Christine Chua; City Sports Director Cecil Atilano; and Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Roy Tuballa and numerous others.
