Albay is seeking stronger ties with Australia to enhance both disaster preparedness and trade opportunities for the province.
Board Member Atty. Sheina Marie Onrubia-Dela Cruz, Chairperson of the Committee on Trade and Commerce, highlighted the need for modern equipment to address climate change and volcanic hazards.
She also aims to expand markets for Albayano products in Australia, leveraging the success of past trade fairs in Europe.
The initiative complements programs like the Strengthening Institutions and Empowering Localities Against Disasters and Climate Change (SHIELD) project to improve public safety and environmental protection.
The partnership is expected to reinforce Albay’s role as a global partner in sustainable development and disaster resilience.
