A new poultry dressing plant, operated by Garcelo Inc. was unveiled recently with the aim of helping augment the growing poultry requirements in Zamboanga City.
The inauguration and blessing ceremony held Friday, April 26 was witnessed by Vice Mayor Josephine Pareja, City Veterinarian Dr. Mario Arriola and Executive Assistant Romeo Cerna, representing Mayor John Dalipe.
According to Dr. Arriola, the plant is collocated with cold storage facilities and has a rated capacity of 25,000 heads per day. The operator has a toll contract with a poultry integrator.
Arriola said the poultry dressing plant was granted a franchise under Ordinance 659 passed by the Sangguniang Panlungsod last April 8 and approved by Mayor Dalipe last April 12.
The franchise granted to operate the facility was equivalent to five years, according to Arriola.
