Mayor John Dalipe has appointed Liza Jocson as City Hall Spokesperson effective last Friday, March 31.
“I would like to thank Mayor John for the trust,” Jocson said after the oath taking rites held in the Office of the City Mayor.
Jocson is tasked to provide timely and relevant information for the mainstream media on matters and issues concerning the Office of the City Mayor and city hall affairs.
She said she foresees more developmental news statements in the future considering the many plans and programs under the Dalipe administration.
“Mayor Dalipe’s appointment of a member of the press manifest that he recognizes the important role of the mainstream media,” she said.
Jocson served as Daily Zamboanga Times editor-in-chief prior to the city hall appointment.
She is a recipient of the 2019 Editor of the Year Globe Media Excellence Award, and has worked as news correspondent in both national and local media organizations such as the Manila Bulletin and CNN Philippines.
Jocson is a known veteran reporter in Zamboanga politics, having covered already many administrations since 1999.
