In line with the City Government’s continuous implementation of Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS), Mayor John Dalipe spearheaded Friday, May 12, the distribution of cash aid to 1,629 farmers and fisherfolks affected by flashfloods spawned by weather disturbances recently.

Facilitated by the City Agriculturist Office, City Social Welfare and Development Office and the City Treasurer’s Office, the AICS payout was done at the Sangali covered court and benefited farmers and fisherfolks from 12 barangays under the Sangali agricultural district.

Each farmer received P1, 500 to help alleviate their plight as a result of the calamity.

Flood-hit farmers in other districts are also set to receive their financial assistance. The tentative schedule for distribution in other agricultural districts is as follows:

May 19 for 642 farmers under Culianan agricultural District; May 26 for 1,508 beneficiaries under Ayala District and June 2 for 1,929 beneficiaries undef Tumaga District.

The AICS is in addition to other assistance earlier distributed by the City Government and the Department of Agriculture.

Mayor Dalipe has earlier directed City Agriculturist Carmencita Sanchez to ensure that food-hit farmers will get the necessary assistance and support to help them ameliorate their plight in the face of challenges. (Sheila Covarrubias, photo courtesy of City Agriculturist Office)
