Zamboanga: Dalipe mobilizes resources to assist Kasanyangan fire-hit families

Mayor John Dalipe has directed concerned city departments to mobilize government resources and provide immediate relief to families displaced by the Kasanyangan fire Saturday night, to help them get through their current situation.

One person died of electrocution while 2 others were injured during the fire incident that started around 8:16pm and declared out at 11:03pm, per report from the Bureau of Fire Protection- City Fire District. The fatality was identified as Bennajar Ismael Anding, 31 years old.

Damage to properties is estimated to have reached P3M, as investigation into the cause of the conflagration is still ongoing, according to the BFP.

City Social Welfare and Development Officer Socorro Rojas said profiling of the displaced families has commenced while initial relief goods to include hygiene kits as well as arroz caldo were provided to the affected families.

Rojas together with Mayor Dalipe’s Executive Assistant Amado Natividad Jr. were on site Sunday, July 8, to oversee the assessment and profiling of the affected families as well as the distribution of initial relief assistance.

City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer (CDRRMO) Dr. Elmeir Apolinario, citing reports said more or less 100 houses were razed to the ground. Affected families were temporarily evacuated to the Kasanyangan Barangay Hall while the others sought refuge with their relatives within the vicinity, he added.

Resources that responded to the fire incident included the BFP fire engines and ambulance, ZCDRRMO water tankers and ambulance, ZCWD tankers, KCC tanker, Aleson tanker, Fairview tankers, Red Cross ambulance, BDRRMC Kasanyangan, CSWDO, Zamboanga City Police Office, Zamcelco and Joint Task Force Zamboanga.
