Medical Center Chief, Dr. Afdal B. Kunting, said the lot will be used for rehabilitation area, chronic care facility, dialysis center, geriatrics, palliative care, mental health, and as a step down facility.

This will decongest the hospital as those needing less hospital care will be transferred to the area.

Raul M. Regondola, Zamboecozone chairperson and administrator said, this will help for the expansion of the hospital as the population of the city is growing.

ZCMC is not only serving Zamboanga City but also the region, Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi Tawi.

ZCMC is one of the Department of Health (DOH) regional office 9 retained hospitals. Other hospitals includes: Mindanao Central Sanitarium; Labuan Hospital; Basilan General Hospital; Dr. Jose Rizal Memorial Hospital; Margosatubig Regional Hospital; and Sulu Sanitarium.

Present during the signing were top officials of ZCMC and Zamboecozone.
