Zamboanga City Loses Now Up To 7 Billion Due To COVID-19

The loses for the City government of Zamboanga is now up to ₱ 7 Billion from ₱ 3 Billion due to Coronavirus Disease 2019 (Covid-19).

Mayor Maria Isabelle Salazar told in a press briefer, for the ₱ 3 Billion, it was due to the Enhance Community Quarantine (ECQ) and it continued to increase to ₱ 7 Billion as the city was downgraded to Modified General Community Quarantine (MGCQ).

She is expecting that this number will still increase to include the numbers of displaced workers.

The city also recorded a total of 46,000 displaced workers.

According to Salazar, the city government has included for the next year’s budget to help these displaced workers.

Aside from these the Office of the Investment and Promotion will also assist these business together with the City Permits and Licensing Division.

The city was placed under ECQ last March 20, 2020. (R.G. Antonet A. Go)
