A weekend food hub will operate from Friday to Sunday evenings near City Hall, covering portions of N.S. Valderrosa and Maria Clara Streets, under the “Savores de Zamboanga” initiative to revitalize activity in the central business district (CBD).

Anchored on Executive Order No. KHYM-135-2026 issued by Mayor Khymer Olaso, the program supports efforts to strengthen gastronomic tourism and sustain economic activity in the traditional city center.

Signed on April 27, 2026, the order authorizes implementation of the project, including traffic rerouting and operational measures, following coordination with and concurrence of the City Council.

The activity will feature local cuisine and products, while also accommodating concessionaires affected by the planned renovation of Paseo del Mar.

Operations will run every weekend: Friday from 5:30 p.m. to midnight, Saturday from 1 p.m. to midnight, and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m., with selected streets closed to vehicles during these hours.

Each concessionaire will be allotted a three-meter by three-meter space with a fee of P500 per operating day, subject to adjustments based on operational requirements. The city may expand the activity to other areas, including Plaza Pershing, if necessary.

An ad hoc committee and concerned agencies, including the Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO), Task Force Zamboanga, and traffic units, will oversee security, traffic management, and compliance with sanitation and safety standards. (Arvin Midel) (photo credits: Albert Atilano)
