Zamboanga: Akay ni Sol Foundation hands out 178 wheelchairs, medical devices to PWDs

Akay ni Sol Foundation in partnership with the City Government of Zamboanga led by Mayor John Dalipe hands out medical devices to 178 Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) Friday, September 29 at the City Coliseum in Tetuan in line with its mission “to uplift the quality of life and promote the dignity of PWDs and those of their families.”

Rolled out were 110 wheelchairs, 20 quad canes, 23 single canes, and 25 crutches.

Mayor John Dalipe, during the distribution rites thanked Akay ni Sol Foundation represented by John Michael Lagamia, for its generosity and for including Zamboanga City PWDs in the list of beneficiaries, as he emphasized the importance of inclusivity and ensuring equal access to essential resources for all members of the community.

Mayor Dalipe said the city remains committed to working hand in hand with organizations like Akay ni Sol Foundation to create a more inclusive and caring environment for all residents.

Roque Tapales, Akay ni Sol Ambassador in Zamboanga City, who requested the roll out of the wheelchairs for PWDs in the city, delivered a moving testimonial message during the event.

He expressed appreciation for the opportunity given him to contribute positively to the lives of PWDs in the city.

The distribution of medical devices aimed not only to improve mobility and independence of the recipients but also to show solidarity and support for the PWD community.

Present during the distribution were Executive Assistants Ron Jacob Orendain and Jeric Ducay and Assistant City Human Resource Management Officer Jericho Jan Bustamante and numerous others.

Akay ni Sol is a newly formed non-profit organization that adopts holistic approach to its mission, that is, by tapping medical and other professionals and making equipment and innovations accessible to PWDs in various areas in the country.
