Mayor John Dalipe personally supervises the release of the One COVID allowance (OCA) to over 900 frontliners and health workers under the City Government Saturday, June 17 at the City Health Office.

The OCA is an initiative of the Department of Health and forms part of the health workers’ benefits for their COVID-19 response efforts.

Mayor Dalipe was instrumental in the early release of the benefits, as he personally followed up the same with DOH. He said the health workers deserve the benefits for risking their lives to save people from COVID-19.

The provision of OCA is pursuant to DOH’s Special Provision No. 14 under the Fiscal Year (FY) 2022 General Appropriations Act, which stipulates that the amount of Covid-19 benefits shall vary according to risk exposure of the HCW and non-HCW in particular setting.

The OCA was subsequently replaced by HEA under Republic Act 11712, an act granting mandatory continuing benefits and allowances to public and private health workers during the Covid-19 pandemic and other future public health emergencies.

Present during the release the OCA were DOH Assistant Regional Director Dr. Lenny Joy Johnson Rivera; City Health Officer Dr. Dulce Miravite; Assistant City Health Officer Dr. Cathy Garcia; CHO Admin Officer. Antonio Pascua; Head Nurse Corazon Pagotaisidro and Timothy Arquiza. (photo credits:Christine Lim) (Source: City Government of Zamboanga Facebook page)
