The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) IX together with Mayor John Dalipe distributes Student Monetary Assistance for Recovery and Transition (SMART) Educational Grants to 29 beneficiaries Wednesday, December 18, at the City Hall conference room.
The SMART grant at P25K per student/ scholar, is a one-time financial grant intended to help students overcome the challenges of pursuing higher education amid financial constraints. It is pursuant to Republic Act No. 7722, also known as the “Higher Education Act of 1994,” and supported by CHED Resolution No. 547-2023.
The program was facilitated by Majority Leader and District II Cong. Mannix Dalipe.
Mayor Dalipe in his message thanked the CHED through Region-9 Director Rody Garcia and Majority leader Dalipe, as he reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to helping students beyond financial assistance.
“As you work and build your bright future, know that the Dalipe Administration is behind you every step of the way. As your mayor, I’m here to help you not only financially, but also through programs, initiatives, and partnerships that can further enhance your learning experience.” the chief executive asserted.
Dalipe highlighted the students’ role as future leaders and contributors to Zamboanga City’s programs, as he dubbed them as “future leaders, innovators and change makers of our city.”
A meet and greet activity between the scholars and Cong. Dalipe and Mayor Dalipe is set anytime soon. (Bernadeth Lazaro)Â
