Zamboanga: 27th Summer Learn-to-Play a Sports Program reels off

More or less 3,000 young aspiring athletes have signed up for the 27th Basic Sports Camp “Learn to Play a Sports Program” that reeled off Saturday, June 15.

Mayor John Dalipe led the opening rites held at the Joaquin Enriquez Memorial Sports complex in Baliwasan, with Philippine Sports Commissioner Edward Hayco as guest of honor.

The month-long program offers free training on 24 sporting events, which include archery, arnis, athletics, badminton, baseball/softball, basketball, boxing, chess, dancesport, football/futsal, gymnastics, judo, karatedo, muay thai, pencak silat, and sepak takraw.

Also offered are free trainings on swimming, table tennis, taekwondo, tennis, volleyball, weightlifting, wrestling and wushu.

The program is open free of charge to all school-aged children (7-15 years old).

Also present during the opening program were Councilors VP Elago, Boday Cabato, Jerome Santos and SK National Federation President and Youth Commissioner Carol Julianne Dalipe, PSC consultant Prof. Elbert Bong Atilano, City Sports Director Dr. Cecil Atilano, technical officials, coaches and other guests.
