Zambo. Starts COVID-19 Vaccination

Zamboanga City officially started its vaccination program for Coronavirus Disease 2019 (Covid-19) through a ceremonial vaccination for Zamboanga City Medical Center (ZCMC) health workers Friday inside the hospital premises.

Dr. Afdal Kunting, ZCMC Chief of Hospital was the first to receive the vaccine.

“I have not felt it I was just told its done.” Kunting said.

He added that its been one year since the pandemic. The pandemic has taken a toll in the Filipinos family life, economy, now the vaccine is here its about time.

Kunting is 48 years old, with asthma, and hypertension.

Aside from Kunting, some of those vaccinated were: Dr. Shadrina Tahil Salapuddin, Dr. Salip Nastra Jumaani, Dr. Sebar Sala, Dr. Aisa Gregorio, Dr. Mariciel Valero, Richard Tabuniag, Emmanuel Tanpua, Antonietta Escandar, and April Joy Palicbar.

Before the actual vaccination, there will be a screening area where they will be assessed by doctors asking how are they feeling if they have other health concerns if the patient is okay and agreed to be immunized they will now be immunized.

In case they are hesitant or having second thoughts, they will be counseled and if they agree they will be vaccinated.

After vaccination, vaccinees will be observed for 30 minutes. If there will be Adverse Event Following Immunization.

In case there will be Adverse Event Following Immunization the hospital is ready.

For ZCMC, they are targeting to vaccinate 1,500 of their health personnels.

Covid -19 vaccination will start from the medical frontliners as they are exposed to the virus and taking care of Covid 19 patients. (R.G. Antonet A. Go)
